ASSISTANT TREASURER
Gloria Galati

Hope all is well with each and every one of you! And the best of holiday season to everyone!

If anyone is having trouble receiving their White Caps please consider having  your White Caps mailed by first class  postage. Send $3.00 for one year and send  to my address on page 2. If you have moved please see that I receive your change of address by the 25th of each month prior to each issue date of the White Caps. This will insure that your White  Caps is received at the right address.

If anyone wants extra copies of the White Caps, please call me or write to me. I will send them as quick as I can.

Just a reminder when sending in new membership applications, please make  sure that the (Referred By Line) on the application is completed for the National Membership Contest.

When sending your national dues this year, make sure that member’s I.D. number, along with latest address, and current phone number, are included on business form. This helps me to provide

up to date membership listings in April. Thanks to all for continued support of WAVES National. As always, Anchors Aweigh!

SHIPS STORE OFFICER
Kathy Hall

Hi ladies! I have recently taken over the duties as your Ships Store Officer. I look forward to working with each and every one of you. I love to shop, so this position is perfect for me!  I am a retired AZC with 24 years in the Navy. I retired in June 1994. I live  in Pensacola, FL… the Cradle of Naval Aviation.  The three ‘HOT ITEMS’ that are the  most popular are the ‘Original’ WAVES Hat Pin, the USN Women’s Necktie and the Name Badge. These items have been on back order for quite some time, but I am happy to report that your Ships Store is fully stocked with the Hat Pin and the Necktie. The Name Badge will still take about four weeks to ship, once the order is received. By the time you read this article, all of the back orders will have been filled. Please note the new shipping and handling prices due to the increase in postage. There is a new item in our SS. It is a washable coach’s jacket, with a regular  collar, light weight lining, elastic cuffs, snap front with slash pockets and a draw string bottom in your choice of Navy blue or White. Order yours now for the holidays! Always in Navy Tradition!

VETERANS AFFAIRS
DEPUTY VAVS REPRESENTATIVE

Susan DeRosa

Ladies, the holidays are fast approaching. Please remember to do a little something for our veterans in your area, whether they are in nursing homes, VA Medical facilities or just house bound. If your unit can’t make a donation  to the holiday fund or buy presents for some patients, maybe a visit or a card to wish them a happy holiday.  I know some VA facilities have a gift wrap day or gift distribution where all the organizations take part. It is a good way to get in the holiday spirit and do something for others. Make some veteran feel a little special and not forgotten this year.

Happy Holidays!

VA MEDICAL/HEALTH
Violet Strom-Kloth

Good news, once again, comes from the Minneapolis Medical Center in their search, by research, to respond to the  needs of women veterans.

Do you still know your right foot from your left—absolutely necessary to  perform within the purviews of this exacting  study. With all the marching you have  done, and may still be doing, on holidays  involving the military, I am sure you do.

A double-blind study for Venous Stasis Dermatitis is being conducted to evaluate a foam cleanser and cream designed to relieve the pain, itching, redness, scaling and swelling. Having this skin condition on your lower limbs qualifies  you to be a subject after reading and signing releases, authorizations and consent forms.

Rest assured the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA), a new federal privacy law  would protect you. This law prevents your health information from being used without your permission. Health information  that has your name, or other unique facts, that could reveal your identity is known as Protected Health Information  (PHI). Before any researcher can use or disclose your PHI in a research study s/he must have your authorization.

The staff has been notified and I would welcome any results that can  be published.

WHITE CAPS EDITOR
Ida Duffy

This year has just flown by! But, it’s starting to get too chilly here in  Arkansas, so it’s off to Florida we go! By the time you read this, we’ll be basking in the Florida sun (I hope). Please use my winter address in this issue on Page 2.

One of the interesting things about this job are the guessing games that I’m provided with, like e-mails with no unit name, or number. I even have received ‘snail mail’ that has been hard to identify the unit it comes from. So, if you don’t see your contributions in this issue, check your e-mail to see if I’ve responded with questions about your unit.
