    SECOND VICE-PRESIDENT

PATRICIA L. CHILDERS – As the current WAVES National Treasurer I have learned so much during the past two years and would like to continue in this position for another term. I feel that I have just begun and therefore I feel I should continue for another term, as there are certain advantages to having me continue; one being that WAVES National funds which are divided into several Certificates of Deposit will not be transferred to another banking institution. I retired as a HMC (Hospital Corpsman Chief) after a 24 year career in 1996. While on active duty I held various offices within the enlisted community to include President of the Chief Petty Officers Association at three commands. After retiring I went in to volunteer at WIMSA and ended up working there as Director Field Operations, a position I thoroughly enjoyed. I am a Life Member of WAVES National and belong to the Piedmont Tar Heel WAVES Unit   44, a charter member of WIMSA; life member of DAV; member of Fleet Reserve Association, The Retired Enlisted Association, American Legion, NOW and Alliance for National Defense. I have attended one regional conference in addition to my own regional conference. I attended the dedication of the Stained Glass Shadow Box at Portsmouth, VA; the mid-term conference in Nashville, TN and the anniversary celebration at WIMSA. I have mentioned all donations to the Stained Glass Window Fund and/or Scholarship Funds in the “White Caps” in the hopes of encouraging donations for both of these worthy projects. If you give me the opportunity I will continue to serve WAVES National to the best of my ability. It is an organization which is enriched by the diversity of its membership. Thank you for your consideration and I hope to see you in Philadelphia!

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

There is now a WEB site for WAVES who attended the Link Instrument Training Instructors School at NAS Atlanta. It is www.Litis.org, and was started by Adam Getchell, the son of former CPO Sp.(T) Pat Morrison at the suggestion of Lois Swinson. She thought that the history of these women should not be lost and it is hoped that women will send in their memories. Any questions send to Momgetch@aol.com. Or Priscilla Getchell, Box 76, Umatilla, FL 32784, member of Unit # 74.
