From the Editor…..
As we go to press, the latest e-mail news is that Bettie
Johnson took a bad fall in her driveway and had to go to
emergency. Apparently nothing is broken, but she is badly
bruised and has a lump on the back of her head.
Another e-mail told of Vickie Lisenbee’s admission to the
hospital. She is very seriously ill, but that is all we know
at the present time. Vickie is a member of Unit 101 and our WN
regional representative.
On a happier note, we are making plans to attend the
WAVES
National 2002 Convention in Portland, Oregon. This is an area
of the country that I have never seen, and now my son, Robert,
lives in Seattle, so that’s another reason to get there. Bob
is our Webmaster, and if possible, he will drive down to
Portland to meet some his “ladies.”
If Portland seems just too far, how about that Florida State
Conference at Cypress Gardens, May 10-11? The Winter Haven
area is filled with attractions at that time, including the
Spring Flower Festival, an ice skating show, a magic show,
boat rides, and the Water Ski Show.
After a year and a half without a dog, I couldn’t stand it
anymore, so I adopted a lovely, little “Lady,” from the animal
shelter. She is a Beagle/Dachshund mix, with a beautiful black
and tan coat. We seem to have conquered her fears and mistrust
from her past experiences, and she is just full of happy love
now.

Norrene O’Flarety Dreffs
 Noreen
passed away February 18, 2002 at age 83 after a 2-year illness.
Immediate survivors are her husband, Harry and daughter Julie
(Dennis) Anderson. Noreen was a graduate of Marygrove College,
with a master’s degree from the University of Michigan. She
retired from public education in 1981. She served in the Navy
from 12-27-44 to 4-27-46. She was a member of the singing
platoon in boot camp, trained at Milledgeville, GA, and was
stationed in San Diego, Ca. She was a lifetime member of
Michigan Unit 32. Sympathy cards may be sent to:
