Meeting—September 30, 2000 Terre Verde—Nunica,
Michigan
Minutes
President Bettie Johnson extended a welcome and thanked Jan
Roy for luncheon arrangements. Following the Pledge of
Allegiance and Unit 32 creed, Irene Zeilinger gave the
invocation. Members and guests were introduced.
Secretary’s Report: Accepted as printed.
Treasurer’s Report: Pat Saint Amour reported a
balance of $199.90 in the checking account and $797.11 in the
savings account. She stated that she is accepting dues for the
coming year. Jan Roy stated that WN life membership dues are
available. Treasurer’s report accepted as read.
Committee Reports:
Campbell Labels/Veterans’ Projects:
Shirley Croucher reported that December is the last meeting to
turn in labels for 2000. She asked for 2001 calendars to be
sent to VA hospitals and grocery coupons for servicemen
overseas. She has ditty bags ready to be delivered to the
Battle Creek VA hospital.
Historian/101 Liaison:
Ruth Smith shared pictures from the WN Cleveland
convention.
Membership:
Avis Lowe reported that there are 114 members at
present.
Naval Ship Museum:
Mike Kegley reported that there were three ships in Bay City
this summer.
Public Relations:
No report.
Vietnam Memorial:
Funds have been acquired.
Volunteer Hours:
Pat Saint Amour reported that new forms are available for
volunteer hours. Unit 32 had 4608 hours.
National President—Jan Roy:
Jan thanked the people who helped her with the luncheon
and gifts. She urged everyone to make reservations by the
deadline. She also gave a report on the national election and
national convention.
Regional Director:
Vickie Lisenbee reported that the regional conference will be
held in Canton, Ohio in May. She also reported on the national
convention. She stated that Shirley Van Buren has been elected
national president of the Purple Heart Auxiliary.
State Director:
Eleanor Robinson reported that 37 bylaws were passed at the
national convention. The new state director is from St. Ignace.
Correspondence:
Virginia Maitland reported none received.
All Service Women’s Luncheon:
Irene Zeilinger in charge of arrangements at Bavarian Inn
Lodge, Frankenmuth, November 11, 2000. The American Legion and
VFW will have a parade. We need favors and someone to help
register people.

Christmas Luncheon:
Mary Lou Unterburger in charge of luncheon to be held at Weber’s
in Ann Arbor, December 9, 1000. There will be a voluntary gift
exchange, and donations will be collected for the VA
hospital.
New Business:
Bettie Johnson opened a discussion on whether to have speakers
at our meetings. Suggestions included setting a time limit and
inviting people who would speak on something of interest to
the unit. A discussion was held on whether our unit should
form an honor guard. Bettie shared information on honor guards
in other organizations.
50/50 Drawing was won by Liz Ehman, Marion Grattan and
Pat Saint Amour. Numerous door prizes were raffled.
Important Dates: October 15—3rd Anniversary of WIMSA
dedication. October 21—Unit 32 Board Meeting/Williamston.
November 11—ASWL. December 2—Unit 101 Christmas Luncheon.
December 9—Unit 32 Christmas Luncheon/Ann Arbor.
