Round Robin of Books Shirley Croucher reports that many of the member-owned books about women in the military are still being shared. Mother was a Gunner’s Mate by Josette Demody Wingo was especially entertaining, according to Shirley. She says you could envision your own Navy time from boot camp to discharge. They Also Served by Olga Gruhzit-Hoyt is a compilation of stories by women who served overseas in different branches of service, including the Red Cross. I Ran Away with an All-Girl Band by Patricia Wolfe, owned by Elizabeth Ehman, while not service-oriented, chronicles the 40’s era. Although not about the military, former Unit 32 past-president, Mary Mitchell has written a novel entitled Beth.. Write Mary at 2290 Ocean Shore #202, Ormand Beach, FL 32176 if you would like to order a copy. The price is $7 for the soft cover. Mry Lou Unterburger of Ann Arbor is buying and collecting books about women in the military which she plans to donate to the University of Michigan library. Contact Shirley if you would like to borrow books, or have some to share.
