From the Editor…..

page2.4.jpg (1703 bytes)There was not enough support for a Sunday afternoon luncheon cruise aboard the Princess Wenonah this summer. However, the boat sails daily (M-F) from 10 a.m. – 12 noon on the Saginaw River. There is no charge for these outings since they are sponsored by Bay City businesses, but it is suggested that you be in line for a ticket by 9 a.m. More information is available by calling 517-891-2628.

You might want to schedule your trip to coincide with the visit of The African Queen, August 14-25. This is the original steamboat used in the film starring Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. Proceeds go to the Saginaw River Naval Ship Museum.

The Greyfox, a training vessel for the Navy Sea Cadets, docks in Bay City August 19-20, and will open for public tours. The NSM plans a raffle for a ride from Port Huron to Bay City. Also, a U.S. Navy minesweeper docks in Bay City May 19-22. You can still make it!

If you visit Bay City, call me. Snoopy and I can accommodate one or two at a time. Enjoy your summer!

E-mail from Anna Mae Clark who describes seeing an elk herd (100 strong) when she and Dick went for a drive in the mountains near their home in Denver.

Shirley Croucher reports that she mailed a box to Wanda Olson, a Unit 32 member now in a nursing home in Milford. Included were Easter treats, one of Doris Graham’s colorful lap robes, and one of our "ditty" bags.
