The next issue of WHITE CAPS will include the "Call to Convention" with details on the program, and reservation forms for the 13th biennial convention of WAVES National at the Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio, September 5-9, 2000. Western Reserve Unit 133 is hosting the event, assisted by North Coast WAVES Unit 21, Buckeye Breakers Unit 65, WAVES Fore & Aft Unit 72 and Lake Erie WAVES Unit 128. Voting for new WN officers will be completed prior to the convention by mail-in ballots, with installation ceremonies at the Saturday night banquet. Jan Roy from Unit 32 is seeking reelection as president, and Shirley Lightle, MI Unit 101, is running for 1st vice president. The remaining slate of officers will be printed in WHITE CAPS. (Be sure to vote when you receive your ballot!) Chairman Jeanne Clough has promised interesting, fun tours in "The Renaissance City," including a visit with the Amish and a dinner cruise on Lake Erie, in addition to the necessary business meetings. The convention committee is asking for one door prize from each unit, as well as an item with the unit logo to use as a table favor or tote bag gift. Units are asked to purchase an ad in the convention program and individual members may have their names listed as "sponsors" by sending $2.00 to Unit 32 Treasurer, Pat Saint Amour. |
