President's Message.....
Unit 32’s executive board has scheduled a Michigan Vietnam Monument presentation for the Sunday, February 27 luncheon meeting in the Hoffman House at Lansing. The February meeting also includes a memorial service for members who died in the preceding year and the selection of a nominating committee for the June election. U.S. Army Brig. Gen. John Kulhavi of White Lake, on standby for the National Guard Reserves, and Christina Riddle of the Michigan Dept. of Veterans Affairs will review the formation of the monument commission, its goals and the April ground breaking on the Michigan State Capitol complex. This is a wonderful opportunity for Unit 32 members to learn about a successful veterans project and to meet persons on the Vietnam Monument Commission of Michigan which Kulhavi has headed for two years. Riddle said she and the general are looking forward to knowing more about our organization and the membership. Wanda Kearns, Unit 32 liaison to the Vietnam monument projects, was instrumental in arranging the presentation. I am sure we all know friends and have family, too, who are interested in this project. So, let’s invite them and have a big turnout February 27. Irene Zeilinger, chaplain, will conduct the memorial service for Audrey Feagins, Barbara Leon and Arlene VanPeeren. Their departures are great losses to our Unit as well as to their families. Technically, we elect members of the nominating committee but the process will be much more simple if three persons volunteer for the committee. All that is necessary to become involved is to raise your hand! Happy hearts and lotsa chocolates on Valentine’s Day!

The 5th District American Legion Auxiliary was in charge of the luncheon and program. Marian also participated in a program sponsored by the United Veterans Council on November 14 during which she was interviewed on TV.
